One more thing before I send you into the challenge.
Your ear and your right hand are two halves of the same clawhammer skill. You just sorted the ear half. Here's the right hand half at the lowest price I ever offer it.
All right. Quick one.
You just grabbed the 14-Day Hear It, Play It Challenge. Awesome. Really glad to have you in there.
In a minute you'll get access to Day 1 and the whole 14-day arc. But before you dive in, I want to tell you about the other half of this skill. Because most clawhammer players stuck in the middle plateau aren't stuck for one reason. They're stuck for two.
Your ear, and your right hand.
We're about to fix the ear part. That's what the next two weeks are for. But here's what happens on a clawhammer banjo. Around day 5 of the challenge we start bringing in drop thumb. Day 7 and 8 add hammer-ons. Day 9 and 10 it's syncopation. The phrases start sounding like real clawhammer phrases.
And to actually play those phrases back, not just hear them, your right hand has to be there. The drop thumb has to land where you want it. The bum ditty has to stay locked while the phrase complicates around it. The syncopation has to live in your hand, not just in your ear.
If your right hand is rock solid, you barely notice this. If it isn't, you'll feel a familiar wobble. Your ear hears the phrase, your right hand can't quite execute it cleanly, and the whole thing comes out almost right but not quite.
That isn't an ear problem at that point. It's a right hand problem.
The 30-Day Right Hand Challenge
This is my right hand drill program. 30 days, one short lesson per day, most of them 10 or 15 minutes. Bite-sized stuff you do before or after your regular practice.
Here's what we cover:
- Locking in a super clean bum ditty at any tempo
- Drop thumb that lands where you want it, not where gravity puts it
- Keeping your strum patterns rock solid while you sing or change chords
- The little micro moves that make syncopation feel natural instead of forced
- The hand shapes for Travis style picking on the banjo
- Moving between all of this without breaking rhythm
By day 30 your right hand is just kind of doing it on its own. You stop having to think about it. Which means when the ear training phrases start asking your right hand to keep up, it can.
Why I'm Offering This Right Now
Couple of reasons, and they're practical.
First one. If you start this alongside the 14-Day Hear It, Play It Challenge, you'll be around day 5 to 10 of the right hand drills when the ear training starts asking real things of your right hand. Drop thumb lands on day 5 of HIPI. Syncopation on day 9. That's the moment where this pays for itself. Your right hand is dialled in just in time for the ear training to demand it.
Second one. I only discount this on this page. Right here, right now. The Right Hand Challenge normally sells for $147. On this page only, while you're finishing your Hear It, Play It order, you can grab it for $67. So it's $80 off, but only on this page. After this it goes back to full price.
Third one. Honestly? You're never going to be more motivated to do daily right hand drills than you are right now. You just committed to two weeks of structured daily practice on this instrument. Adding 10 or 15 minutes of right hand drills on top of that is the easiest version of the habit you'll ever get to build, because you're going to be practising anyway.
"Do I Actually Need This?"
Fair question. And look, if your right hand is already rock solid, you don't need this. Skip it. Go enjoy the challenge. Seriously.
But in my experience, pretty much every clawhammer player stuck in the middle plateau has a right hand that's about 80 percent of the way there, not 100. And that last 20 percent is what makes the ear training pay off. Hearing a phrase and not being able to clean it up because the right hand wobbles is one of the most frustrating things in clawhammer. This is the bonus that prevents that.
If you're on the fence, just add it. Same 30-day money-back guarantee as everything else I sell. If you try a couple of days and it's not for you, email me and I'll refund you. Easy.
